SCRIPTURE Hebrews 3:5–6 “And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after; But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.”
COMMENTARY We learn two things from this passage: (1) we must “hold fast” our faith “unto the end (death or rapture);” and (2) we have not yet fully received our salvation and resulting eternal life, but have “the hope“ of receiving it, if we hold firm. Both of these contradict the doctrine of unconditional, guaranteed, eternal security which is fully consummated at first belief.
